2 years: longer locs, red locs

Honestly, time FLEWWWWW by!!! 2 years! 2 years!?!!?!? awesome!!! 

 I know I haven't written on here since May, but I've definitely been taking pictures ever so often to chronicle any cool changes my locs have gone through!  Basically, I've combined all of my locs around my edges since they were a bit too thin.  Also, I haven't twisted my roots or latched my roots since July 2010 O_o wow right!! But I do LOVE it!

Let's see what else, oh, now I can throw my locs up in a myriad of cute ponytails and updos due to gaining some length, finally! :-)

My locs got super blonde this Summer by using the lightening spray and for my locs' 2nd bday, I dyed my locs two different dark shades of red and brown!  I used L'Oreal Superior Preference in 4R and 4W.  I dyed my top half the more richer red color and the bottom half I dyed the dark brown with a red tint.  I left both colors on for 45 minutes - I have NEVER used an entire bottle of hair dye, let alone TWO whole bottles of hair dye!  I was definitely rinsing my locs for over an hour and even rinsed them again tonight for an hour to ensure ALL dye was completely removed.

Oh, also to commemorate 2 years of locing I wrapped one of my dreads in the back in red, gold, and green wire - I LOVE IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

my hair - a week ago

I just looooove that random curly, loose hair sticking up! Actually I love all my hairs all over the place lol!

That's cool! :-) So the close of April will be the end of my 19th month of having a head of fab locs! yay! I love them more and more each day! I've recently been toying with the idea of what it would be like to have my head of curls back, but then I think about all the time I've invested in my locs and snap out of it. quick! I love my hair and can't wait to see what the rest of this year and many more bring!  

So lately I've totally been missing my lighter hair and want to dye my hair but don't want a head full of one color locs! So I was just going to use Sun-In like I did last year, BUT it hasn't been that sunny and warm enough for me yet to go lounge outside and let the sun lighten my hair. Good thing for John Frieda Sheer Blonde Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray!

I LOOOOOOOVE this stuff!!!! All I had to do was spray on and apply heat to activate the formula. Since it's heat activated, I used my blow dryer for like 2-3 minutes after I sprayed it on.  I got it two week's ago and applied it twice that day. I saw a slight change and decided I would do it twice a day for a week. *note - all this heat on my hair made my scalp DRY! so after a couple days of using this spray, I made a nice oil conditioning spray with coconut oil and added Jamaican Black Castor Oil to my shampoo to restore some much needed moisture to my locs!*

Anyways, after using it for a week, see below for the FABULOUS results!!!!!!!!!!!

I love it and can't wait for the sun to get really hot again so I can use Sun-In to go even lighter!

15 months!!!!!!!

ha! It's about time I post on this here blog! So the end of January marks the end of 15 months with my fab little locs! I LLLLLLLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVVVVVVVEEEEEEEEEEEEE them!!!!!!!!!! I've started to notice some length (I can put them in a pony tail!! cheaaa!) and my locs seem to be getting a bit thicker! yay!!! I have to use a bigger clip to put my hair up than before, score!!! :-) Anyways, check the pics below! And as always, thanks for reading!

One Year!!!

Wow! it's officially ONE year with locs! yay! Time really, really, really flew by! Let's show comparison pics to start:

WHAT a nice difference! :-) I definitely learned a lot about my hair and of course that LESS is always more when it comes to caring for my locs.  Recently, every time I ran into someone who hadn't seen me in a while they said they loved my hair and those that were locked always asked the same question: "what are you doing to it? your locs look so nice!"

I would answer that I hadn't done anything to them; anything meaning twisted or used product.  This summer I didn't do anything to my hair, just washed it! **Ohh, BTW, I found some yummy and amazing shampoos at Marshall's for $9 - 33.8oz EO Lemon Verbena Clarifying Shampoo and Pure & Basic Tea Tree & Rosemary Shampoo** I LOVEEEEEE the Lemon Verbena shampoo! It smells DIVINE and keeps my hair super clean and moisturized.

I've been either wearing my hair straight or curled with pipe cleaners.  My pipe cleaner curls last a few days.  I found that I do not like when the curls are so tightly curled, so I usually like them the most the second day onward.

My friends and family have also been commenting on the length I've gained and how full my hair looks. It's funny because now when I THINK something is on my neck or ear like a bug or whatever, I swat at it ferociously, and then have to clam down and realize, DUH, it's my hair! LOL!!! silly, I know, right!!

Anywhoo, I am so excited to have reached this awesome milestone and am looking forward to many, many more years!! :-)

11 months - September

First set of pics from 11 months - I tried out this hairstyle that I saw my friend wearing. I thought it was so cute! It's easy too! Flat twist up the back and a few on the side. *note* I thought I would have to use bobby pins, but my friend told me that she just tied her hair to hold it together, so that's what I did! Leave the front out straight, curled or a braid out. I wore this style for a week and everyone gave me compliments! The last picture in this group is how curly and fun my hair was after taking it out of the style. I love the curls too so I wore those for a couple days:
